ORLANDO, Florida – Marshall County defeated Miami Northwestern 51-36 on Friday morning to claim third place in the KSA Events Holiday Tournament at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex.
The Lady Marshals defeated Covenant Christian of Palm Bay, Florida, 51-31 in first-round play on Wednesday and lost 55-39 in the semifinals Thursday to Mother McAuley of Chicago.
Ocean City, New Jersey, advanced to the championship by topping Anacoco, Louisiana, 43-35 in the first round and Miami Northwestern 44-17 in the semifinals.
Mother McAuley and Ocean City were to meet for the championship. Other games matched Covenant Christian and Anacoco, Louisiana, in the fifth-place game and Sunlake of Land o’ Lakes, Florida, in the seventh-place game.
In other first-round games Wednesday, McAuley defeated Sunlake of Land o’ Lakes, Florida, 66-22 and Miami Northwestern topped Gulf Shores, Alabama, 48-13.
Senior Hannah Langhi led the Lady Marshals, scoring 52 points – 16 against Covenant Christian, 18 against Mother McAuley and 18 against Miami Northwestern.
Miyah Davis had 16 against Covenant and 10 against Miami Northwestern, and narrowly missed a second double-figures effort with nine against McAuley.
Thursday’s defeat ended a five-game winning streak for Marshall County. Friday’s victory gave the Lady Marshals an 11-3 record.

ORLANDO, Florida – Hannah Langhi scored 18 points Friday, pushing her three-game total to 52, in leading Marshall County to a 51-36 victory over Miami Northwestern and third place in the KSA Events Holiday Tournament at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex.
Miyah Davis and Lorin Powell added 10 points apiece as the Lady Marshals improved to 11-3.
Marshall County steadily pulled away from a 12-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Marshals outscored the Bulls 14-5 in the second period, and their lead never fell below six points the rest of the way.
Diondra Dumas led Miami Northwestern with 14 points.
In other games, Ocean City, New Jersey, upended Mother McAuley of Chicago in the championship game 51-45; Anacoco, Louisiana, won fifth place by defeating Covenant Christian 5044; and Sunlake of Land o’ Lakes, Florida, took seventh place with a 47-25 win over Gulf Shores, Alabama.

THIS WEEK: Webster County visits for a 6 p.m. game at Marshall County today. The game is the first part of a split double-header at Conder Gymnasium, with the Marshals taking on Cairo, Illinois, at 7:30.
The Lady Marshals travels to Murray for a Fourth District game against Calloway County on Friday. Tip-off is at 6 p.m., with the Marshals and Tigers following at 7:30.
NEXT WEEK: The Lady Marshals meet Paducah Tilghman Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 6 p.m. in the opener of a girls-boys double-header at Conder Gymnasium.
Next action will be Friday at Graves County, also a double-header opener with a 6 p.m. tip-off.
