Mr. Morris “Mike” Hammer, 77, of Benton died on Thursday, March 16 at Lake Way Nursing and Rehabilitation in Benton. He was a retired conductor for the New York City Transit Authority and the United States Postal Service He was a member of The Way in Hardin and was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was born Tuesday, October 3, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the son of the late Louis Hammer and the late Bella (Dellon) Hammer.
Surviving are son, Michael John Hammer of Benton, daughter, Patricia McLeod, husband Tony of Benton, brother, Melvin Hammer of Brooklyn, New York; five grandchildren, Lillian Akel, Robert Blaine, Rebecca Pincus, Pamela and Daniel Oringer; and one great-grandchild, Arianna Akel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline (Perazzo) Hammer, his parents, brothers, Marvin Hammer, Benjamin Hammer and Julius Hammer.
Graveside funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 18 at Marshall County Memory Gardens in Benton. Rev. Mike Haven officiated. Interment followed.
