A Possum Trot man is in critical but stable condition in Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville following a Friday night incident at his home at 427 Walker Harris Road.
Edward Harris, 63, was discovered inside his home after firefighters responded to a smoke alarm call from a security company at approximately 8:30 p.m. Friday. Harris had been badly beaten according to Detective Captain Matt Hilbrecht and lead investigator with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.
Hilbrecht said Harris was airlifted to Vanderbilt from a staging area along U.S. Hwy. 62. He said Harris’ injuries included blunt force trauma and burns.
“We are following up on several leads that I believe will pan out and direct us to a suspect in the case,” said Hilbrecht.
Hilbrecht said Harris lived alone at the residence.
