Staff Report

Marshall County Judge Executive Kevin Neal has been hospitalized at the University of Louisville Hospital. County Commissioner Rick Cocke said doctors are treating him for a blood clot in a vessel that leads to his spleen, liver and intestines.

Neal was transferred to Louisville last night after first seeking treatment in Paducah. Cocke said Neal had been experiencing discomfort for three to four weeks. "He's been fighting it, but he's Marine tough. I knew he was having problems and apparently on his way home yesterday it got bad enough to require a trip to the emergency room. It's a serious situation," said Cocke. "But not as bad as the rumors that were making their way around last night."

A 4:30 p.m. meeting in Aurora this afternoon to discuss economic development has been canceled and will be rescheduled at a later date due to Neal's absence.
